Date Nut Bread

Ingredients

  • 1 pond walnuts, chopped
  • 1 pound dates, pitted and chopped
  • 3 1/2 cups water
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 teaspoons baking (bicarbonate of) soda
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 6 cups flour

Instructions

  1. Preheat over to 300
  2. Boil the water
  3. In a bowl mix the walnuts, dates, salt and baking soda
  4. Pour the water over the baking soda
  5. In a different bow, beat together the eggs and sugar
  6. Add two cups of flour to the eggs and sugar
  7. Add the water-date-walnut mixture to the eggs-sugar-flour mix
  8. Add remaining flour, until all the ingredients are mixed together
  9. Grease several loaf pans (or coffee cans)
  10. Pour mix into the pans (cans) until 2/3 filled
  11. Bake for 1 – 1 1/2 hours or until a toothpick inserted into the date nut bread come out clean

Preparation time: 15 – 25 minute(s)

Cooking time: 1 – 1 1/2 hour(s)

Serve with cream cheese
